The transparency regulations of the EU Artificial Intelligence Act come into effect this month. Chapter IV, Article 50, Section 2: Providers of AI systems, including general-purpose AI systems, generating synthetic audio, image, video or text content, shall ensure that the outputs of the AI system are marked in a machine-readable format and detectable as artificially generated or manipulated. Fines for non-compliance: €20M or 4% of annual turnover. It’s extraterritorial, and international companies, even if they are not based in the EU, are still subject to the act if the output generated by their AI system is used within the EU. submitted by /u/aaronbassettdev
