I asked a friend if he wanted to hang out sometime soon. He didn’t respond, so after a week I followed up and made it more concrete. He said it didn’t work for him. I then sent a vulnerable message explaining that I wasn’t sure how to interpret the lack of response and that I’d leave the initiative with him if he wanted to meet up. He only responded with a thumbs-up. I’m wondering if he’s slowly trying to distance himself from me. It’s not really the fact that he doesn’t want to hang out that hurts most, but being ignored and not knowing where I stand. I’ve been ruminating about it for a week now, and it’s really affecting me. How do you deal with it when a friend ignores you like this? And how do you stop overthinking what it means? submitted by /u/NoSpot5547
