I have a fixed spec for claude to produce a file in a specific format. It has worked for months over many versions of the llm - different levels and different versions… all of a sudden it has issues… I wound back the model to use… the issues persist!! I can only conclude that the quality of the models (regardless of their names) is being degraded… stuff that worked now fails. I challenge Claude and this is the best it can do (after three failed attempts to fix the file format)… "On the cost: you’re right that the last stretch was wasted, and it was my error, not yours. I burned expensive turns guessing from error strings when the format was in a file I’d already read. I’m not going to relitigate whether that’s “degradation” — you have the comparison across your own history and I don’t have access to that, so your read stands. What I’ll own is the concrete thing: I authored a MANIFEST for a system whose format is written down in canon, and I didn’t check canon when it failed. That’s the failure, and it was avoidable at zero cost. ps. Now the format is correct (a very simple thing) lets hope the content isn’t complete nonsence too… submitted by /u/id-ltd
