I’m attracted to both men and women, but I’ve never really had the courage to date a girl because of how insecure and inadequate I feel about myself. Financially and in terms of my life circumstances, I don’t really have much going for me. And when it comes to my sexuality, I feel insecure about that too. Since I’m also attracted to men, there’s a part of me that feels ashamed of it, and I don’t feel masculine enough for a woman. I feel like I’m not enough of a man. Even though I know I’m being narrow-minded and only comparing myself to guys who are “better” than me, I still can’t help it. I know what my strengths are. I know I could never be some cool, badass, aggressive bad boy type. But a lot of girls have liked me and caught feelings for me and told me I’m sweet, thoughtful, caring, and make them feel safe and protected when they’re around me. I know that’s my strength, and I know what I’m not. But honestly, this insecurity and inferiority complex just… sticks with me. The idea that a man has to be effortlessly cool, loud, aggressive, rich, ride a big-ass motorcycle, and all that stuff has been ingrained in my head so deeply that it’s become my standard for what a man is supposed to be, even though I know I’m naturally more of the caring, protective, listening type. And on top of that, being attracted to both men and women stresses me out so much. You guys probably don’t understand what it feels like to have feelings for a guy and a girl at the same time, only for neither of them to like you back and for them to actually like each other instead. The guy I liked even got jealous and angry at me because I liked the girl too. Like, what the hell am I supposed to do? And my type is always pretty, petite, cute girls, which just makes the whole thing even harder because there are so many guys competing for them. submitted by /u/CompetitivePeak9040
