Hi, Based on other posts and movies, there’s this consistent dynamic in marriages where the woman starts “momying” the relationship, causing the man to be emasculated. So many guys become yes man and lose a sense of autonomy. Perhaps the marriage has been going for too long it feels too late to start over. I don’t know; I’m still young but scared of marriage so I was wondering for you that are in successful marriages, what do you do to perhaps maintain power/respect? And, for those that aren’t, what’s a lesson you can share? 2026 marriage kind of seems like a scam, as others have told me to just stay single. submitted by /u/Healthy_Bluejay_1336

Stay independent and energetic, and don’t even worry about “emasculation” as a concept. No one determines your sense of masculinity or femininity except for you. Don’t worry about things like power or respect, just find the right one (no matter how long it takes) then feed your love of the other person and communicate like CRAZY. People who worry about respect and masculinity and power dynamics never, ever end up in a long and happy relationship. Having pre-conceived roles and expectations of one another’s behavior is a sure fire way to ruin your own happiness in a relationship, and for no good reason.
