I’ve noticed on several occasions that men in this subreddit claim they’ve never witnessed a fight or come close to getting in one. Usually, it seems like they’re saying this to imply that getting into fights isn’t something normal or decent people ever have to worry about, and judging by upvotes, a lot of people agree. I saw one of these threads last week, and then by happenstance, I was in a situation earlier today where I thought I was going to have to fight someone on the bus. This skinhead with tattoos on his face, who refused to pay his fare, went absolutely fucking ballistic and was shouting at the top of his lungs in the most psychotic and aggressive way possible for fucking ages. He was hurling insane racial abuse and threatening to cut off the bus driver’s head and shit. Like, vein-popping, spit-spraying rage, and pacing and punching the wall. I happened to be the only person sitting up front by the bus driver, so I was right in the blast radius if something kicked off. The guy going psycho was at the back of the bus, and I had a direct view of him. Everyone else was staring at the ground and trying their best to sink into their seats, while I was left to mentally prepare for what was going to happen if he came down toward us. He started shouting at me as well, asking me what the fuck I was going to do after he saw me pack up my headphones and laptop and shit and slide my bag out of the way in preparation for having to deal with him (my seat was directly facing the back of the bus, so he had a clear view of me). I didn’t say shit in response, though, and just sat there looking at him. Fortunately, the bus pulled over, and the police came and arrested him without anyone getting hurt. Still, it was a genuinely dicey situation, and I knew I’d have to defend the bus driver if it came to that, since he was old and clearly scared. I didn’t actually feel very scared myself, and my heart wasn’t racing or anything. I was pretty much numb and detached, just thinking about what I was about to do. So, when was the last time you experienced something like this? submitted by /u/EndersR3ign
