I’ve had a recurring problem that has been cycling off and on over the years with my wife. I’m not sure if it’s ADHD related. What happens is we have an argument or conflict, usually about my behavior, attitude or involvement as a father/husband, we try to identify behaviors that I can do better (usually a level of more initiative in family affairs vs just my own projects). I start doing well, then at some point I seem to get comfortable and think things are well, but it’s not going well and becomes a boiling problem for my wife. In effect I’m doing all proper things on paper, working job, supporting family financially, doing basic chores and participating in family outings. Issue is not having consistent desire to initiate and lead with my wife and family as a man. To be honest I don’t want to take her out on dates, play with kids, parent kids, or plan any family outings. I don’t get joy out of them. Those are what she complains about and it is of course reasonable and I feel so broken. The only thing I’ve tried but keeps cycling is kind of habits and manufacturing interest. But I’m just exhausted with all of the demands. Is this a medication issue? I am on bupropion. But to not want to spontaneously desire to spend time with my wife and kids, regardless of whatever is going on is fundamentally a problem and a paradox I would think. I’m happy to just get through the day. My wife says we should get more out of life vs just tolerating it as I’m doing. Any guidance is good. Very frustrating for both of us! submitted by /u/Revolutionary-Toe-6
