We’ve all got a thing or two that makes things in life easier, even if some people struggle to see theirs. Whether it’s practical intelligence, handiness, born into money (not a hater at all. I’m all for people using any advantages they have. Just don’t be a spoiled dickhead,) savvy investor, greater emotional intelligence, athletic, there are many things, and I think it’s easy to forget about them and the benefits we’ve received from them. I can go first: I’m tall and a pretty good looking fella. Never been a person to do one night stands, always in relationships, but it’s a privilege I’ve been made more aware of recently through friend and coworker comments. If we go out, I get approached by women (somewhat) regularly and I never noticed it until a friend recently pointed it out. I’m the go to person for presenting at work, and while I’m not a dummy and do speak well publicly, my friend/coworker made a joke after a presentation like “you wouldn’t have gotten nearly as many laughs outta that last joke if our SMEs weren’t angling to make an HR violation out of you.” It made me think that maybe it really has played into me landing jobs I interview for consistently, regular interactions (non-romantic) usually go well and smoothly, and now that I’ve been thinking on it, I have noticed people I meet in groups (some people) seem to naturally be nicer to me than other friends. I’m also white with Northern European features, which is also definitely a privilege that I don’t appreciate like I should. I was in the car with my black friend the other day. When he got pulled over, he immediately placed his hands on the dash and got nervous. Took me longer than I’m proud to admit for it to click why. I was thinking about “is this something we can talk our way out of?” and he was worrying about his safety. It was humbling. Anyway, enough rambling: what about y’all? We all have privileges. Most of you probably have actually meaningful ones too, unlike my shallow and sort of lame example. What makes you special? We’ve all got something, even if you don’t think you do. submitted by /u/KrispyKingTheProphet

Somehow, I don’t really worry much, which makes my life very pleasant. Someone has to be actually dying for me to panic, basically. Furthermore, despite it and the lack of planning that comes with it, life has been kind of easy (another thing to be grateful for but not a part of my personality). 🤷
