I’m a guy in his late 20s who’s happily married. I moved across the country for a job and keep up with my friends from my home state through a group chat, we chat every single day. Outside of this though, I’m incredibly alone or at least feel so. My main socialization is my one coworker next to me in the office. I joined a running club that’s nice but it’s so hard to connect with people beyond pleasantries, especially other dudes. Maybe I’m overthinking it but I don’t allow myself to talk to other women because I don’t want them to think I have ulterior motives, I genuinely just want connection. I don’t want to freak out my wife and she has some girlfriends but I haven’t felt this alienated in a long time. I was commuting home on the train and like a heavy wave, the loneliness hit me hard. Anyone out there who can relate? I envy female friendships I’ve seen around me, they seem so much more luckier in that regard. submitted by /u/alexis_1031
