I’m on the ChatGPT Go plan, and over the past few months I’ve noticed it’s approaching the capabilities of a model I can run on my 3060 12GB. More and more, it seems to rely on search results and gives the most obvious responses. Earlier, it was miles better at giving unconventional and out-of-the-box replies, especially for niche questions. Now, it does a web search and then gives me the most common reply, even if my query is extremely specific and unlikely to have common answers online. Lately, I’ve been relying more on Chinese models when I want a thoughtful reply. I use GLM or Qwen, but they obviously take very long on thinking mode, and GLM’s top model is often unavailable, especially on the free tier. So can somebody tell me what’s a good free-tier model, that is at the same level of performance as GPT was ~a year ago? Thanks! submitted by /u/Tokamakium
