Good afternoon, Has anyone here personally been hired by a Swiss court for a legal internship (stage de greffe) or a court clerk-type position (greffier-ière) while not yet being a Swiss citizen at the time of hiring? I am particularly interested in people who had completed a full Swiss legal education (Bachelor + Master in Swiss Law), but did not hold a Swiss passport at the time of hiring yet. I am asking because I recently had an unusual situation. I was offered a legal internship at a Swiss court, and I received written confirmation that the hiring had been approved. I was subsequently informed that, because I am a foreign national, the appointment also required the approval of the President of the court. The President ultimately did not give that approval, and the offer was therefore rescinded. I had no contact or interview with the President. My profile cannot objectively raise any problematic issues as such (my parents are ordinary people, not foreign diplomats, working class). During my previous interviews there, several judges and the HR were present and we discussed that I have a valid permit allowing me to work without any issues. I am trying to understand whether this is an unusual situation or whether similar cases are fairly common, particularly for candidates who have completed their entire Swiss legal education. If anyone has personal experience with being hired by a Swiss court or another federal judicial institution without Swiss citizenship, I would be very grateful to hear about it in order to understand whether in practice I’m not yet eligible and it is most likely to be blocked after rounds of interviews and planning my life around moving to another city/canton. submitted by /u/Due_Warthog6486
