I’ve seen the memes about ‘the group chat’ and heard friends talking about stuff getting posted in group chats etc which I’d always assumed was just a small group of a few close friends… The only group chats I’m in are immediate family (8 of us), and then temporary work groups for specific projects or for security alert, for examples when we’re operating in high risk locations, but these get closed as soon as the job is finished and again wouldn’t usually include more than a dozen people max. Today I was listening to a podcast and they were casually talking about group chats they’re in that include hundreds of people and it made me wonder how common this is and what on Earth would make anyone want to have that amount of traffic coming through your phone on a regular / presumably constant basis? submitted by /u/Ricky_Martins_Vagina
