I decided today to visit one of those places I’d heard a lot about but had always avoided — I went for a hike in Stoos. Instagram is full of reels from Stoos, so I expected crowds and endless Insta photos. But I get the hype now: it’s a gorgeous place, and if you use the cable cars, the hike isn’t particularly demanding. What drove me crazy, though, were people listening to music through Bluetooth speakers while hiking. I came across three of them today. Two kept the volume very low, which I still found slightly strange, but they weren’t bothering anyone, so fine, whatever. One guy, however, decided to blast techno at full volume — so loudly that I, and everyone else, could hear him from 300 metres away. Like, what the hell? Generally, you shouldn’t blast loud music in public spaces, but playing techno at full volume in the mountains is a whole new level of brainlessness. Have you ever experienced something like that?
