I’m 22F and my boyfriend is 27M. We’ve been living together for around half a year. I work full-time (WFH), as an Operations Supervisor, and career-wise I’m quite ahead (his words). I became a manager at a local company even before graduating, and I currently have a lot of opportunities in my field. While he currently stays at home. He has mostly worked manual labor jobs as a teen, but he’s not working right now. He has no parents or real support system, and he struggles with low self-esteem when applying for jobs. The job market is also pretty bad right now, so I understand. For now, I’m paying for everything while he handles the household completely. He does all the cooking, cleaning, errands, and basically everything at home. He’s also there for me 24/7 if I need anything and is pretty much always on standby. Once his chores are done, though, most of his is spent gaming, which doesn’t bother me that much because I’m a gamer too. I’m okay with the setup so far, but sometimes I wonder if this is okay especially in the long run, I find myself doubting not because of the stay at home gender stigma or whatnot but more so if this is “okay” if that makes sense as I find myself often times wanting him to work at least part time. At the same time, having someone take care of everything at home and being there whenever I need him does make my life easier plus I can focus on my career as I plan to take on more career opportunities. He’s kind and we have zero problems with each other. Last time he earned $500 when a friend of his asked for help with a job, he gave me the full $500 to pay for the electricity bill kind of kind. So, I don’t think I’m breaking up with him in case anyone suggests lol. I’m mostly curious if there are men here who are actually in a similar setup. Are you a stay-at-home boyfriend/husband by choice? How has it been for you, and what factors should I consider if we want this to work long-term? submitted by /u/Extension-Detail6221
