I’ve recently been grinding out the inferno combat achievements, and turael skipping for a slayer task has really killed my fun. It’s similar to COX resetting for speed times. It’s forcing you to do rng-based dead time that is not fun or challenging, and yet still high APM. At some point, I literally spend more time turael skipping than doing the actual content. And I know you can do inferno off task, and I do have a few KC off task. But the difference slayer helm makes is night and day. I’m not even sure if the speed time is reasonably doable off task. No, I don’t think you should be able to just pick any task you want (or maybe with 99 slayer you should be able to once a week or something).
