I don’t use Claude Code. I don’t run batch jobs. I don’t stress-test the API. I exchange messages sometimes a few per day, sometimes a longer thread, but never anything that could be called heavy usage. And yet, under the new limits, my weekly allowance evaporates in two or three days. Not a week. Two or three days. This isn’t a power user complaint. This is the baseline experience of anyone who treats Claude as a daily thinking partner rather than a novelty. The previous weekly cap was already a compromise between access and sustainability; the current one is a straight downgrade dressed as “fairness.” You’ve reduced the ceiling so aggressively that even moderate conversational use hits the wall before the week is half over. The math is simple: if a user sends 10–15 messages a day (which is hardly excessive), the old weekly limit allowed roughly 70-100 messages. Now its closer to 30-40. That’s not a tweak; that’s a collapse. And the worst part? There’s no transparency about what triggered this change, no announcement explaining why a paying subscriber should suddenly ration their questions like wartime bread. We understand the need for sustainable infrastructure. We understand the pressure of compute costs. But punishing regular users with near-daily lockouts while enterprise customers get dedicated capacity is not a solution — it’s a slow-motion churn machine. Each time I hit “You’ve reached your limit” mid-conversation, the value proposition of Claude erodes a little more. The frustration compounds faster than the token count. Anthropic has always positioned Claude as thoughtful, long-context, nuanced — the assistant you turn to when you need depth. Depth requires continuity. Continuity requires not being cut off every 48 hours. By making the weekly quota so tight, you’re not saving resources; youre training users to look elsewhere for any task that spans multiple days. Bring back the previous weekly limits. Not as a gesture of goodwill, but as a recognition that the product’s core promise , reliable access to a high-quality model is incompatible with these draconian caps. If the economics don’t work, adjust pricing tiers. But don’t silently strangle the experience for the people who believed in Claude enough to pay for it.
