For example, I recently offered my bike to a friend to ride to the corner shop, but he refused, saying riding bikes was lame (don’t shoot the messenger). I guess I subconsciously think a lot of things are lame, like wearing Crocs, little fake diamond stud earrings, listening to pop music, etc. Obviously, I know there’s nothing wrong with those things, and people should do whatever they want without judgment so long as it’s innocent. But the subtle feeling of embarrassment is tough to shake at a personal level, because I would absolutely have the piss taken out of me for that type of thing when I was a teenager.
