Before anyone asks, yes of course, women settle too, i’m just interested in getting men’s experience for now. So my question is for the men who married a woman, not because they fell in love, not becasue they realized they were soulmates, but simply because they “liked her enough”, she was “good enough” and she was overall “a good person with a good heart”. And usually, the woman is the one who actually is in love with her husband and maybe doesn’t even realize that in his eyes, he’s just settling for her. How is your marriage going? Did you ever regret settling? Did you end up meeting “the one” after? Or did you actually eventually fall in love with your wife? This post is not to bash or judge anyone for their decisions, so i would really like to hear about your experiences guys!! submitted by /u/Final-Equal-9720

I didn’t actually marry her but I got very very close. Trust me you will not be happy in the long run if you settle, and if the narrative in your head is that you settled. Maybe if you meet a good woman with a good heart, but you aren’t all that excited about her, you would just be happier alone. Deciding that you’re settling for someone is something you’re doing to that person, and not just a determination that you’re making for yourself. The person will be able to feel it, or even if they can’t, you will feel it and it won’t be a good thing for your relationship. “Settling” is never a good idea, especially when that’s how you’re framing it in your own mind.
