Hi all, The state of the pharma industry is rather grim as many of you know. I had all but given up and embraced house wife status and had considered going back to school to work in medical care when I got approached by a recruiter/agency for a project manager role. He couldn’t provide a job description, but was able to give responsibilities etc… I interviewed and received an offer without a job title or job description. Alarm bells were going off, but I continued anyway. I nearly walked away during the contract process as the agency had not told me the hourly rate was all included and that I would receive no holiday time and that was before deductions from the payroll company. I am making less than I ever have in this industry/country. One perk is that I can work from home full time… They had also said the contract was for 10-12 months and only offered 10, which means I can’t claim RAV if it isn’t renewed. (I used the full RAV 18 months just prior) My first day I learned my job title was “coordinator” instead of project manager. I tried to remain positive and learned to enjoy the work and job but I’ve reached a wall 6 months in. I support 7 people all based in different European countries and they all give me different tasks - most of my colleagues are incredibly demanding and critical without any understanding of my work load. As per my contract, I am not allowed to claim the overtime I’ve had to work to get the job done. I feel completely unappreciated and like some kind of chump. One colleague in particular I’ve had to report to my boss who was very supportive, but the behavior just returns. I feel like if I ever push back the chance my contract getting renewed is reduced. It’s not a nice feeling having that hanging over your head. My boss likely isn’t aware of how I was screwed over by the recruiting agency and this is something I plan to address next week, but I don’t even know where to begin. I had to take the rest of the week on sick leave (unpaid) because I reached a breaking point yesterday and did not behave like the seasoned professional I am. At this point, I have next to no motivation and just want to walk away and never return. My boss is very supportive in general, but I’m embarrassed for having to suddenly take off sick and losing my temper slightly yesterday. I am just feeling really down on myself right now and like I have no hope for a decent career. Has anyone else been in such a shitty contract situation - any advice? Thanks a lot. submitted by /u/CaughtALiteSneez
