I think people are looking at the elemental amulets backwards. The goal shouldn’t be for elemental setups to be another stepping stone toward charged staves. They should be a legitimate alternative Mage style that challenges the idea that Magic has to revolve around one “best” item. Melee has slash, stab, crush, and countless specialized weapons. Range has bows, crossbows, blowpipe, etc. We accept that certain setups are better for certain content without expecting them to eventually lead to one universal weapon. Magic should work the same way. Elemental weaknesses give us a chance to make the element, spell, and monster actually matter. If a Fire setup beats Shadow against something heavily weak to Fire, that isn’t bad balancing,it’s exactly what specialization is supposed to look like. The goal shouldn’t be “elemental setup ->charged staff ->Shadow.” It should be multiple viable Mage styles that compete with each other depending on the situation. Mage deserves the same diversity Melee and Range already have. submitted by /u/Feisalz55
