EDIT: THIS POST IS NOT IN SUPPORT OF SEXUAL ASSAULT. IT’S CALLING OUT THE STIGMA OF NOT TALKING ABOUT HOW HORRIBLE IT IS. I have a hard time communicating with other men about SA experiences, specifically woman-on-man SA. The biggest challenges I face when opening up to other men are summed up in these generalized quotes: “(Specifically about adult women grooming boys) What are they complaining about? I wish that was me.” “They got hard, so they enjoyed it, so it wasn’t SA.” “They should have fought back.” “(laughs) I thought that scene from Wedding Crashers was also hilarious!” Has anyone else noticed these types of thinking? What are the ways we, as men, can combat these narratives?
