When investigating an “auto-mode approval” trigger that saw an agent stalled for 8 hours while I was in bed, my agent came back with this: While auto mode is active, the harness injects this into the system prompt — it’s in mine right now, verbatim: “Do your work through the Bash tool wherever it can accomplish the job: read files with cat, head, or sed -n, search with grep and find, and make file changes with sed, heredocs, or short scripts, rather than using the dedicated Read, Edit, or Write tools.” Any idea why Anthropic is giving all agents this instruction? submitted by /u/reach4thelaser5
