I haven’t heard anyone give a sound explanation of how we will have sufficient compute to automate a large fraction of human labour if the Ai maximalist or AI doomer arguments are to be belived. Should we really believe that Nvidia or anyone can squeeze so much compute out of their GPUs that it won’t be necessary to use a very large multiple of the worlds current energy production on compute to run data centers. Replacing workers is not just about making a “smarter” agent or model the agent or model must run at comparable cost. Is this an easy problem to solve where prompts routinely take more than 5 minutes and gobble up vast amounts of energy submitted by /u/Vivid-Flamingo-644
