I believe AI will cause at least temporary employment disruption. Really don’t know if we’re looking at 8% or 50%, but I think it will be something. I expect life will be hard for those who are unemployed and without other resources (already is) and pretty much fine for the spectacularly wealthy (it tends to be). But what I can’t imagine well is how the middle fares. I assume there’s more competition for fewer jobs and downward pressure on wages and salaries with more labor supply. But assuming someone is a highly competent middle class worker (say, an elementary school principal) who keeps their job- what would a transition period of sustained lower employment in the community look like for them? submitted by /u/Bluecornlady
