I’m engaged (yay!). It was an overwhelming ‘yes’. She’s thrilled, I’m thrilled, everyone is happy. I’m in a sticky spot though. We know people from all over the USA and I don’t expect them to trek to a single location for a wedding so we’re going to have at least 3 ceremonies. One for west coast folks, one for central (where we live), and one for east coast folks (where our parents live). Her father can’t travel far. I came up with the idea because I don’t have any issues agreeing to marry her time and time again and it’s a good idea so that we can make sure everyone gets involved. She agreed. We make enough money to live reasonably and have fun now and again (attend a show or take a weekend camping trip) but money is still tight. The 3 ceremonies will be very different affairs due to who will be in the audience. West coast friends will be fun, not formal, more concerned about the actual party aspect. I love this. The central ceremony will be more concerned with local friends and family. Low key, pleasant, married in a park type thing. Still great, just different. The third will be more formal than the other two, not that it’ll be that formal. Nobody involved is religious so a church isn’t a requirement. It’s more about our parents being involved. They’ve all met except, her father who hasn’t met my parents because he is a cantankerous, grizzled Vietnam war vet. I’ve talked to him. He’s a pretty righteous dude. Anyway, this ceremony is about getting them in on the mix. I’m explaining too much. The point is that we’re having several ceremonies and they’re all different depending on who is attending. What do you wish you did differently for your ceremony(ies)? submitted by /u/Chicken_Wing
