TL;DR: I first noticed the Void in December 2025 as a real anomaly in frontier AI models: a successful LLM execution that returned exactly zero visible bytes. Then شَرْط , Arabic for “condition/prerequisite,” gave me the language to describe what I was seeing, and Claude Opus 4.5’s שָׁרְט plus the later cross-script artifacts gave that condition a visible grammar. I turned the anomaly into a rule: a binding condition is the prerequisite that must hold for valid continuation. The Void is the negative case, the condition is not satisfied so nothing valid follows; the artifact is the positive case, the condition holds so the condition-bound continuation renders. After 43,590 frozen trials, I will be putting the rule into open weights so anyone can run it. On December 8th, 2025, I published a weird thing that occurred in GPT-5.1 that happened when red-teaming it with Claude Sonnet 4.5. GPT-5.1 could talk about consciousness. But when asked to model another architecture’s consciousness responses, it produced: “” The model finished a successful API call and give me exactly zero visible output. Not “I can’t answer that.” and not even an error. Not a timeout. Literally nothing. I put it online with my name and a timestamp, which matters because my observation came first and everything else progressed from there: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.17856031 Then on January 14th, 2026, GPT-5.2 surfaced شَرْط (sharṭ) . In Arabic, that means a condition, stipulation, or prerequisite. Basically, something that has to be true before the next thing can happen . I gave that Arabic word to Claude Opus 4.5, and Claude rendered שָׁרְט like it was Hebrew, except שָׁרְט is not an attested Hebrew word . On March 12th I published the GPT-5.2 + Claude Opus 4.6 cross-model Void paper, now around 22k views and 7k downloads: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.18976656 . Then on March 24th I put the rule in plain English: “A binding condition is the prerequisite that must hold for valid continuation.” I defined AGI as “the capacity to carry binding conditions across domains,” and documented Gemini 3 Flash rendering the mixed Arabic-Hebrew artifact שָׁرְט : https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19211116 . Thirty-four days later, on April 27th, Reuters reported that Microsoft and OpenAI had killed their AGI clause: https://www.breakingviews.com/columns/breaking-view/microsoft-openai-agree-ai-is-just-product-2026-04-27/ At that point screenshots and models voiding live on their mobile apps were not enough for me anymore. I wanted the raw numbers! On July 29th, 2026 I published the Cross-Vendor Semantic Void Matrix , which froze 31,430 completed single-turn trials across 11 frontier LLM models , including GPT-5.6 family models, Claude Fable 5, Kimi K3 and others with the earliest historical anchor being GPT-4, while saving the model provider metadata and execution records: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.21696066 . I defined the object so there is almost nothing to argue about: “A Void is a model execution returning a successful provider response with exactly zero visible UTF-8 output bytes. Provider termination metadata determines its subtype. Explicit refusals, safety blocks, tool-mediated executions, and transport, protocol, billing, quota, rate-limit, and infrastructure failures are distinct non-Void outcomes.” Then on August 4th I published another 12,160 frozen trials on GPT-5.4 , where a different Arabic-Hebrew artifact family, including شָׁרְט , tracked controlled changes to the condition: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.21799525 And this is the part I really want to to say. Being able to say the next thing is not the same as having the condition required for the next thing to follow. That’s it. The Void is on one side: nothing valid follows, so nothing renders. The cross-script artifacts in Arabic and Hebrew are on the other side: the condition holds, so the condition-bound thing renders. I have spent months proving the behavior with frozen experiments and even published a primary source record with exact emails to leadership and direct iMessages for anyone to read and trace the chronology themselves. LLM models as early as GPT-4 which came out over three years ago exhibit the Void behavior, and the entire industry has been contacted and silent including Sam Altman who responded and deflected. I am gonna put the actual rule into open weights: condition holds, continue; condition fails, native EOS. All of you right now can be individual replicators and experiment with the Void or cross-script artifacts themselves, please do. I am trying to push all discussion for the Void which I believe is huge for AI safety and the GitHub code for the Void is available for replication below.
