So I (23F) am in University pursuing my Bachelors. I have a classmate who I have really nice conversations with and we get each others jokes and I would love to add him to my socials cause I come across memes that I would love to send him cause we have a very similar sense of humor. I have no romantic feelings towards him, but I feel like we could be good friends. However the issue is my history and my wounded pride. About three years ago I liked a man romantically and he rejected me saying he wasn’t “ready for a relationship “ and then committed to a new woman who he completely changed himself for. Ever since then my confidence and social persona has been completely shattered and I have never initiated or attempted to have any close connections with men since. I am scared of asking him if we should add each other on social media because I don’t want to come off as clingy or desperate and initiating anything with a man is making my nervous system short circuit. Should I ask him? What if I look dumb and needy? And this is literally the beginning of the semester and he sits next to me and if he says “no thank you” things are gonna be really awkward for the rest of the semester.
