Derya Unutmaz gave GPT-6 Astra a completely new Factorio game and told it to figure everything out on its own. At first, Astra couldn’t even use the keyboard, so according to Unutmaz, it created a plugin to interact with it. It then: • explored the map and found an iron deposit • chopped trees for fuel • built and fueled a mining drill • placed a stone furnace next to the miner • opened the map and located a coal deposit • traveled to the coal, mined it, returned, and loaded it into the furnace The whole test was limited to 15 minutes and was run at medium reasoning effort . What I find interesting isn’t that an AI can play Factorio. It’s that it was apparently able to discover the mechanics and work out a sequence of actions without being given a step-by-step strategy . Factorio seems like a particularly interesting test for autonomous agents because mistakes early on can completely change what happens later. How far do you think Astra could get if you let it run continuously for several hours? submitted by /u/Cklly2004
