((as a kid)) In school, me & this girl started “going together” as school let out on the Friday before Spring Break. Neither had the other’s phone number & both our parents were strict about talking to boys/girls on the phone. So, we didn’t see each other or speak at all the entire Spring Break vacation. . .& then broke up Monday morning on the 1st day back at school. Lol!! ((as an adult)) I’d been recreationally “dating” a young lady for about 8 months or so. We’d hit the movies, go out to dinner, spend the night together, take brief road trips - I even met a few members of her family throughout that period & enjoyed a few “outings” with me, her & her baby son. I made it clear from the very beginning that an official committed relationship was off the table for us b/c, while we were having a ball & thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company, I didn’t “REQUIRE” anything of her or have any expectations that “NEEDED” to be met. It was just stress-free, comfortable fun. I won’t give details, but there were a number of things in her life that I would never be comfortable with if she was in a committed relationship with me.
