I am getting a lot of anxiety about all these people saying that AI is going to take over everything and potentially kill us all in just a few years. How is this happening so fast? On the one hand, we don’t even have mainstream self- driving yet. Majority of cars are still being driven by humans. You would think that all cars would be driving themselves and all planes would be flying themselves before we were even close to AI wiping out humanity. I don’t understand how we went from chatgpt to existential threat so quickly. Is this fearmongering or should I be buying non-perishables and giant water jugs to prepare for the end of the world as we know it? submitted by /u/midwoodgirl10
