Hi everyone, I’m an engineer with 4 years experience in Java/Spring stack. Recently i joined my new company. The work is majorly migration and boring configuration. On top of that my manager is pushing me to think of AI ideas. It’s been 5 months i haven’t done anything in that part. Ill never learn anything new in the company for the team I’m in. So i was thinking I’ll do something related to AI like my manager suggested. Here’s my idea, I work in the implementation team and we have to manage our SaaS product to multiple customers. The work is mostly configuration and involves a lot of db querying to check the configs. Since there are over 20 customers to our product whenever there are multiple tickets that we need to work on from separate implementations, there’s a lot of context switching and time involved when switching from one customers db to another figuring out issues. My idea is that I would develop a unified interface to connect to all the db from my application and give it conversational abilities. Prompts like: compare the config between these 2 implementations, why is this field not showing up on ui etc… Here’s a rough architecture: claude->springmcpserver->oracledb. Claude can be replaced with spring ai chatclient too if company doesn’t support connecting to external MCP. Is this idea worth it? Is it repetitive? Any improvements or suggestions? Would experienced guys be open to use my tool? Will it add value to my resume for future switch? Please give me feedback guys. Keep it raw and honest, no sugarcoating.
