Seems to me like it’s painfully common that men only reserve emotional openness and vulnerability for when they talk to the women in their life (usually their spouse). I think it’s quite sad, at least within my own personal friend group, I feel like I hardly know them at all sometimes. One of my friends was married for four years and then they divorced. Apparently they had been going through hell that entire four years and this friend barely uttered a word of it to any of us. It was a complete surprise when they divorced. Another friend of mine who I’ve known since a kid has major struggles with panic attacks, ocd, emotions etc. again, I would never know if it wasn’t for the fact that I am friends with his girlfriend (I introduced them to eachother) and she would talk to me about him as if I was aware of these issues he was having (I wasn’t). Anyway, my male friends I wouldn’t say are particularly masculine by any means, if you met them you’d probably think they were pretty open people. I know I can’t be the only one, curious to hear others’ experiences and thoughts. submitted by /u/ChicoBrillo
