Recently I lost my best mate to cancer. He was 39. He was a typical Aussie bloke, real “she’ll be right mate” attitude. Didn’t do much outrageously unhealthy, but didn’t ever really go to the doctor. Did enjoy the gym and fitness, but did drink and smoke socially. He had to get some fairly routine surgery, and part of that was a pre-OP blood test. He went to his doctor to fix an injury, left being told he had stage IV cancer and months to live. A couple of weeks before he died, we were having a candid discussion in our group chat. He said that if he could leave us with one piece of advice, it would be to be proactive with our health. Get regular checkups, get full blood tests every year. If he had been doing that, they probably would have caught the cancer before it spread. So my question for you blokes, when did you last make time for your health? submitted by /u/aggressivelynude
