I just did a one month resub after a short break, I had previously been on auto-renew for 1 year plans before the most recent price increases. I clicked “become a member” directly from the launcher, confirmed my character name was correct, typed in my 3 digit code for my credit card, and was immediately resubbed. This took less than 90 seconds from double clicking the launcher icon on my desktop to the time I got a confirmation message that I was a member once again. I then tried to just insta-cancel so I don’t forget and get billed again in a month. Steps/landing pages for cancelling:

  • Open Launcher
  • Click “become a member”
  • Click “cancellations page”
  • Land at “FAQ about cancellations” page
  • Click “Jagex Account Management”
  • Next to character name, click “Manage” button
  • Popup window showing my character stats with a big red “Cancel Subscription” button
  • Are you a Robot? page
  • Login with email, password
  • Log into personal email for MFA code
  • Enter MFA code
  • Ad page showing the 2026 roadmap with “Continue Cancellation” in about 6 point font at the bottom of the page
  • Page showing me “MEMBERSHIP SUBSCRIPTIONS AVAILABLE” and “MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS”
  • Scroll all the way down to find " Continue Cancellation " or " Update Subscription " options, again in 6 point font
  • Click “Continue Cancellation” (no, still not done!)
  • Feedback page and offer of customer support, finally see a button to " confirm cancellation "
  • Cancellation successful This is extremely illegal for UK companies to do, correct? Did they not pass “one click” cancellation laws years ago that the US tried-but-failed to emulate (DMCC Act) that requires subbing and unsubbing to have the same or reasonably similar number of steps? Requiring security steps to subscribe that were not required to be confirmed during subscription should be a direct violation of this law. The process to cancel took me, conservatively, 5x as long as it took to give them my money and required security barriers that were also not present during my subscribing, along with many, many landing pages as opposed to literally “click subscribe, give 3 digit code for CC, congrats you are a member” from one button in the launcher. I have 6 tabs open in Google Chrome related to cancelling. It took exactly one to subscribe. submitted by /u/Spam_Hand
