Years ago I had a step daughter (6’ish at the time) who was a very picky eater until… I love to cook and did so most of the time. Had a subscription to a food magazine. I gave her a couple of them and told her to look at the pictures and find something that looked good. Once chosen, I would help her make it. Taking time to smell or taste ingredients when appropriate. With praises of technique and the aromas, she wanted to try it. And she wanted us to enjoy. Pride in her work. But we were always honest. Too much this, maybe more of that. Sometimes it was her, sometimes just the recipe. She understood. Really helped to get her to try more than chicken strips when we went out lol. Also, Googling pics of similar dishes until she learned more about ingredients/menu reading. Got anything similar? Besides throwing toddlers in the pool? submitted by /u/deezdanglin
