I wanna start off by saying this isnt me bashing runescapes pvp system or advocating for some change because I believe the game is unique, this is more a vent post because im bad at pking lol. I feel like i can learn pvm content in this game in time with enough practicing because its easier due to simple pattern recognition, but my god I feel horrible at pking even after trying to learn nhing and bh for over 2 years. Ive watched so many pk guides, tried a lot of lms, rev cave pking, anti pking at chaos temple/calverion, etc., but it feels like no matter how much I try I cant seem to keep up with all these pkers in the wildy. For context i’m pretty much max combat (120 combat), im not using a pure build or special account build because I dont want to grind another whole account and spend bonds on it just to experience a single portion of the game. I like pvp in games, and its fun when people are roughly the same skill level, obviously theres going to be games with smurfs and stuff but it never feels as bad as the skill gap between a new-average pker to a good one. The things that are appealing to me about PvP in this game is it CAN be another way to grind gp and it keeps things unique, every fight is different and you learn, its exciting and more thrilling than farming pvm like phosani for weeks straight which is my current go to gp method (I just find phosani very easy and when you get a drop thats like 7-9 bonds paid off depending on the drop). I just wish that there was a way you could fight people around the same skill level as you but I think that would be impossible to add into this game. When I NH i usually use rag sets, but it gets to a point that its not satisfying to just use dds rune cross and ancient/ahrim staff when theres so many cool different weapons in this game to use so I occasionally try to upgrade the set, and every time im wearing some more expensive gear(5-10m), I get hunted by way better pkers that just have scouts in the rev caves (my usual pk spot, and I do have private off). I wanna say im like 80m down from pking over the course of the last couple years, and its like if im just free loot to these sweaty guys that have been pking for over a decade, whats the point of even trying this side of the game lol. As I said it is exciting and fun to fight people of ur skill, but whats the point if I only find someone of my skill once in a blue moon and like 95% of the people that run up on me are just veterans in pking. I also wanna clarify, I dont care if I die to someone if it was a good fight, but if I got dog walked im not going to pretend that it was a good learning experience. There’s so much other content in this game that I guess I’ll try to find that excitement somewhere else, thank you for listening to my ted talk.
