I’m less worried about AI becoming hostile than about us getting so comfortable with it that we stop questioning it. I already catch myself accepting an AI summary instead of reading the source, just because it’s easier. That’s not automatically a problem. But if I stop being able to spot what the summary gets wrong or leaves out, that’s a different story. We’ve always relied on tools and other people. Nobody can check everything. Still, there’s a difference between getting help with your thinking and gradually handing it over. There’s also the question of who controls these systems. If a few companies become the default way we get information, their choices about what gets shown or left out matter, even if the AI works as intended. I use AI and think it can genuinely help us learn. I just don’t think convenience always means we’re better off. Where would you draw the line between useful reliance and unhealthy dependence? Have you noticed AI helping you think things through, or making it easier not to? submitted by /u/Philo167
