Me and my girlfriend decided to get our own place once we found out she was pregnant. And we lived in that crappy little apartment in a very sketchy part of town for like 3 months before anything weird ever happened. The night in question happened like this, we both went to bed and was in deep sleep. Then all of a sudden we hear this loud crashing, coming from the livingroom. We both woke up, half asleep, being like “what the hell was that?” Now me still being half asleep, and still so used to living at home, my first thought was honestly “my dad will go see what that was”… It took me like 2 full seconds to realize my dad was no longer the man of the house. I was. It was up to me. And then I looked at my girlfriend, pregnant with my baby, and I felt a surge. Its hard to describe, but I felt like whoever that was just made a mistake coming in here, threatening my future baby. Don’t get me wrong, i was terrified, but I knew there was nothing scarier beyond that door than someone harming my girlfriend and my baby. So I walked up to that door and walked through it. It turned out all the baby diapers we piled into the closet ended up falling over and broke our closet door open. We had a good laugh about it, but ill always remember thinking “my dad will go check that out” only to remember, im the dad now. It gave me much more respect for my dad. I always thought he was incapable of fear. I get now he was always afraid, but did it anyway. I love you dad. submitted by /u/Ok-Dish4389
