I’m in my mid twenties and I just realized that life is getting real. Things move fast and years go by. Yesterday, I was visiting my mom and looked at the family dog. He’s been with me almost my entire life and now he is pushing seventeen years old. He can barely walk, is blind and deaf. I almost cried when I realized how old he is. Then I looked at my mom and it hit me. She’s also getting old. She’s the same and yet there’s something, like a spark she previously had that is no longer there. She complains about her back and how tired she is. It’s hitting me hard. And my father… We are not in very good terms. We barely talk to each other because of things that happened. We had lots of discussions over the years and the last one we had broke something in me. I have barely talked to him since then. He’s almost seventy and his birthday is very soon. I’m afraid that someday I will lose him and regret not talking to him more or doing things together. But caving in and pretending our last discussion didn’t hurt me would be dismissing my own feelings and give him the possibility to do it again. I don’t know what to do. How do I cope with this? What should I do? submitted by /u/easytoremember1111
