Hey guys! I am an older sister (24f) of four. My brother who is fairly close in age (22), is a bum. Growing up, he was a soft, bright and happy kid before our parents separated. Mom met a new guy and our step dad was not a father figure towards my brother. My step dad is a good person, but lacks a parental figure especially emotions (Asian parents). I believe when my brother was in his last year of high school, he became friends with people online and became a hugeeee douchebag. He was surrounded by these douche bag friends and I believe one of them from California took $900 from him. My mom and step dad forced him to get a job to help pay the rent, but he quit because we were moving (not even far from our old house btw). Little bit before we moved, I learned that our cousin and friends dropped him (I am not sure what it was), and now he usually keeps to himself. Depressed, unmotivated and playing on his computer every day. He does not pay rent anymore, listen to anyone, work, go to school, take care of our little siblings, or dog when asked to. Here and there, he does his chores, but that’s it. I have been trying to help him by playing games with him or asked if he wants to gym, but my brother always go back to his computer. I also been trying to help him get his permit or enroll him in school (because he wants to), but does not put in the effort on trying for himself. I also even gave him the Quizlet with all of the answers for his permit test… I believe he has gotten better and made new online friends, but rather leech off my parents… I honestly feel bad for him especially as an older sister. I do want my brother (well all my siblings) to live a happy and successful life especially in this terrible economy. But what do I even do? I truly blame my mom and step dad for failing him. submitted by /u/sp00kks
