AI Programing and artwork in gaming is very taboo and understandably it is. Many consider games as a media and artform and replacing it with AI is like replacing actors with Ai agents. But when it comes to modding, the use of AI has exploded in the modding community, for good or for worse. I’ve always played around with game mods whenever possible, and even created my own simple modifications: its fun! But I recently got invested in modding in forza horizon 6 and it slapped me in the face: so many mods are clearly AI generated and it has brought tools that I don’t think they would exist without AI. In forza horizon 6, a lot of mods, outside of model swaps, are made through SQLite editing. The thing is, SQLite is hard to read and know which value does. But the amount of clearly AI programmed tools in the moddings community is extremly plentiful now and there is so many programs that allows you to edit SQlute values in a user friendly interface. There is even now AI based de-cryption and re-encryption so that you don’t even need to push those changes through the memory, it’s now part of the encrypted game files, amazing! This sort of stuff wouldn’t be possible without AI, I think it has lowered the bar of entry to modding, and it has allowed to create tools that the amateur programmer would probably never inderstand in their life time.
