I retired in May 2026 after working for 35 years+ as a developer (coder). I still code as a hobby doing stuff for myself like creating games, PDF reports for my financial needs etc. etc. But I no longer do the coding. I give clear specifications to AI (either Gemini or GPT) and they create whatever I need instantly, whether it is a python script, an excel VB macro etc. etc. I still do all the testing and debugging, but it is clear to me that AI is getting better and better and soon enough most if not all coding tasks will be done by AI. It is definitely smarter than any human I ever worked with. submitted by /u/Sirtemed
