There’s been an item that’s bothered me for a while: Relicym’s balm. It just sort of appears with little fanfare during Zogre Flesh Eaters as a cure for the disease, but not any explanation of why it’s called that or who Relicym is. But there are a few points that suggest the Zogre’s disease originates from Karamja and is Zamorakian in origin. Let’s lay out our puzzle pieces: The ingredients for the potion: rogue’s purse and snake weed. Both are found only on Karamja and - remember this - found in a cave full of jogres and dropped by jogres respectively. A special use for Relicym’s balm: damaging the orange Broodoo victims. Interesting that the disease associated primarily with the Zogres is also rearing its head in Karamja. After Zogre Flesh Eaters, Juna will mention at Tears of Guthix that zogres fought for Zamorak, though we know living ogres and variants tend to align with Bandos. The spell used to resurrect the Jiggig zogres is from the library of a Zamorakian Necromancy Tower. We know Zamorak had a surprisingly large presence in Karamja. Skotizo was sent on a mission to the Khazari jungle to retrieve (probably) the Dark Altar, and Nezikchened still lives in the area. Zamorak also personally performed a twisted resurrection on Rashiliyia’s son. According to Kangai Mau in a Postbag from the Hedge, the Karamjan Temple was the sight of some kind of massacre from when demons walked the land, meaning Skotizo probably faced opposition from an opposing army. (Less notably is the Inoculation Station made for sailing requires Relicym’s balm is needed to sail through fetid waters, but those waters are only found from those flowing out of the Feldip Hills. I’m guessing Jiggig is seeping into the ground water and flowing out to sea. So here’s my rough timeline: During the God Wars, Bandos and Zamorak were both on Karamja looking to gain territory and any special artifacts such as the Dark Altar (and maybe whatever the heck is in the Tzhaar caves). During the fighting, the Zamorakian forces came up with a spell to resurrect their dead enemies to both fight for them and spread disease among the opposing forces. The after effects of the spell/disease would influence the Broodoo victims. Relicym was an Bandosian leader who used local ingredients to fight the disease, but ultimately his forces had to retreat by swimming across the ocean to the Feldip Hills (Recipe for Disaster shows that even ogre children can do this). Knowledge of the cure was still retained in the Feldip Hills Ogre communities and Karamjan Jogre communities, which is why we see the Jogres associated with the ingredients. So now the important part: Why do I think Relicym was an Ourg? Mainly because I want a cool minigame where you fight against a Broodoo-infected zombie Relicym and his undead Raurgs and Fayrg forces, so we can finally see them in game. I’d like to have a quest where Lord Handlemort accidentally triggers an ancient curse in his search for the Jade Vine. The curse resurrects the pieces of Clarence from Hand in the Sand, who you have to hunt down and sew back together; he then acts as a reward shop for the minigame, selling useful composite bows, dragon brutal arrows, Jade Vine seeds, etc. (Regarding the disease, I know there is the issue of fever spiders and the new dire bats. We don’t technically know where Braindeath island is, but the Witchaven sea slugs are able to get there at least. And maybe Zamorak made the disease from dire bat poop or something.) submitted by /u/LadyKarizake
