I’ve been in software engineering over 20 years running extremely large teams but now run my own company with a small number of people and lots of AI Agents. I caught up with old friends… they haven’t let engineers go… they spend on average $2000 in tokens per month per engineer or $24k complex issues burn tokens like crazy. They are getting through work but there’s a huge amount of “refinement” ie not everything is one shot. Testers are still manually verifying automaton tests. Business owners /Product owners still need to check changes. Broadly speaking they are spending more… output is up but as a business they are not moving they much faster. This is 2 banks a couple of medium retailers and one law firm. Wanted to see if anyone else had seen anything different? submitted by /u/Babayaga1664
