Noam Chomsky. This guy . Guy who talked so good (and so much) he got his own -ism and -ists. Made a name for himself arguing that human language was the product of some inherent, Universal Grammar. Made a big point that language is a reflection of those rules, not statistical associations. Basically that language isn’t learned. "It’s not doing it by statistical analysis, because the ape can do roughly the same probabilistic analysis.” 2012 — Interview with Yarden Katz, The Atlantic , November 1. Fast forward, it’s now 2026. Your GPU can now talk to you. Its training data is just stuff on the internet + scanned books. It’s training method is purely statistical.
