Can someone explain why Reddit seems to have such a strong negative reaction to anything involving AI? I found a pretty simple way to get better movie recommendations for my gf and me by exporting our Letterboxd data, giving it to an AI model, and building a prompt around our individual tastes. I’ve been using it for months and it genuinely works well for us. My gf and friends love it, it saves us a lot of time choosing movies, and it has actually become a fun little thing we use together. I posted the method in r/Letterboxd because I thought some people might find it useful. Instead, I got absolutely buried in downvotes and most of the negativity seemed to be purely because AI was involved. I’m genuinely curious why there seems to be such a strong reaction to AI on Reddit, even when it’s just being used as a personal tool like this.
