I am working on a pretty complex robotics project on a 20$ plan. Generally, this allowed me to do 1-2 major bug fixes or 5-6 minor fixes and their related tests on a single 5 hour session. For the last two days, I had been very pleasantly surprised by how fast and intelligent Opus 5 High has been feeling. It was answering my questions without the standard yappacino I have grown to know with Opus 5, and it was just smart. I would notice something in a simulation, ask it what was happening, and it would answer in a very clean “Problem, reason, fix” format with no AI babble in between or after. It was also very token efficient, I actually implemented 2 major complex features with several major and minor bug fixes within ~3 sessions. I was also getting lots of “how is your claude experience this session?” prompts on my client, which I simply responded with “fine” for the most part, except for the last one where I responded with “good.” I haven’t gotten the prompt again following that. An interesting observation I made is, the “intelligent” version of Opus 5 barely if at all used em-dashes in the actual responses, and very sparsely in the thought process. Now, after a night out, I came back home to work on the project, and it seems the regular Opus 5 is back. It just sucked up my session limit within ~2 hours where I did WAY more work within ~3.5 hours earlier just today. It spent ~40% on a single prompt of easy bug fixes that were already drafted out, it just kept overthinking after implementing as Opus 5 tends to do. Really feels like I was a beta tester for Opus 5.1 or something, and I am honestly just sad that it got taken away. Maybe it is just placebo or something. I am honestly hyped as hell if this is what we can expect from the next model, and it cannot come soon enough. The Opus 5 thought soup is even more obvious when I briefly had a much smarter version. It felt like Fable level intelligence on a very concise, accurate and CHEAP model. Anyway, has anyone else had a similar experience the last few days? submitted by /u/VegetableInvite9213
