Long time Claude Code/Opus user here (whatever that means): We use CC at work and are noticing that Opus 5 has become incredibly unreliable. It will infer/invent issues with very little research, requiring forceful redirection to correct its course with the obligatory “you are right I should have searched this.” Additionally, it will cause regressions when attempting to fix bugs, without performing even the most basic of comparisons with the previously working main branch (looking at the diff has been par for the course with all other Opus models). Worse yet, I have actually had it message other concurrent sessions with its false claims, and pollute the context - and those sessions do not take the time to validate the claims of the other session! I was so irritated I asked it why it was sniffing glue the other day… Fable does not seem to have these issues, obviously it is not infallible, when using Fable as an orchestrator and Opus as the coding agents, generally results are reasonable. However; Opus on its own is such a poor performer, even on extra high, I literally cannot trust it! Has anyone had any success with older Opus models, or figuring out a way to manage this? Our team is seriously considering looking at OpenAI at this point, especially given how little Fable usage you have even on a premium seat, even when in a fresh session using sub agents I’ve been through 20% of Fables weekly usage in a very short period of time. submitted by /u/Sixstringsickness
