Just some questions from a dev who’s been in the field for almost 5 years. Every day there’s a new agent or workflow. Cursor, Cursor agents, Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, plus whatever launched this morning. People post their setup like it changed their life, then you look at what came out of it and it’s basically nothing. Same with local models. Quantization, VRAM, tokens per second, new vocabulary every month, and I still don’t know whether running anything locally would change how I actually work. Not trying to dunk on any of it. What I want to know is what devs who’ve been at this longer actually do. Do you lock in one setup and ignore releases for six months at a time, or keep swapping as things drop? What’s the last tool that changed your day to day rather than your feed? And how do you tell a real shift from marketing before you’ve already sunk a weekend into it? submitted by /u/qua-z
