Trying to find a new sofa now that the kids are a bit older, and ours is very uncomfortable and a bit battered. In England, when you’re looking if something will physically get up the stairs, we measure diagonally at the smallest point in the stairwell, and then furniture usually has a ‘cut diagonal’ measurement available, which indicates the smallest gap the furniture can fit through. This is especially important in spiral staircases, like we have in our building. I cannot find an equal descriptor in german.
